2025 Legislative Guide
CIPCO engages at the federal, state and local levels of government on legislative and regulatory policies that will affect our membership and advocates on those initiatives to result in the best possible outcome for our cooperatives.
As an electric cooperative, CIPCO is part of a rapidly changing energy industry. The rate of growth and demand for power continues at a pace never experienced before across Iowa. Guided by the Seven Cooperative Principles, CIPCO will always be vigilant about energy policy being discussed by lawmakers and regulators and will work to positively influence those ideas with our co-ops and their member-consumers in mind.
CIPCO works with our cooperative brethren to impact and advance public policy at all levels of government to ensure reasonable guardrails are in place that truly protect rural consumers and enable co-ops to deliver power safely, affordably and reliably. In addition to government oversight, CIPCO remains committed to being a willing participant in public-private partnerships like the positive relationship that has existed with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Utilities Service (RUS) for the better part of a century.
Working with government agencies has helped CIPCO strengthen and support the communities we serve, and our cooperative remains committed to utilizing those resources in ways that make our region more successful and sustainable for generations to come.
